Mr. Vasconcelos (“Mr. V”) , our Campus Minister, also teaches in the Religious Studies Department. He came to us through the Providence Alliance for Catholic Teachers (or PACT) program, a professional service program based at Providence College.
Among his many duties at Cathedral, Mr. V coordinates the Service Learning components at the school, which include opportunities for students to offer community service in and around Springfield in soup kitchens, child care agencies, tutoring opportunities and services to the elderly. In addition, Mr. V, with several other faculty members, leads service trips during the Winter and Spring Breaks to Mexico, Philadelphia, North Carolina and Kentucky, where students are immersed in a local community service project and get to know the local people and their culture.

Mr. V is also responsible for overseeing the Spiritual Formation aspects of the Cathedral High School program, including retreats, liturgical celebrations and daily Morning and Dismissal prayers.

He is a graduate of Providence College and currently lives in Springfield, in community with seven other PACT teachers who teach at Cathedral High School and at St. Mary’s in Westfield.
