School Counseling DepartmentThe Counseling Department seeks to help students improve their self-understanding in light of their abilities, strengths, and weaknesses, and by integrating our own resources with those of parents, teachers, administrators, and community services.Counselors meet with students one-on-one and in small groups throughout the school year, and facilitate special meetings between teachers and parents to discuss a student's progress. Additionally, the counselors are an important resource for students and their parents as they make choices about the next steps after graduation from Cathedral. Students and parents who are beginning the process of looking for a college should contact their counselor to arrange for a meeting to discuss this process. For students with college deadlines approaching, if you are applying using the Common Application please remember to supply teachers with the Teacher Evaluation form with the top portion filled in and signed and the counselor with the School Report also with the top portion completed and signed. Also remember that transcript request forms and requests to teachers for recommendations should be submitted two weeks prior to the application deadline. Juniors have received the results of the October PSAT. The information is very helpful when planning for the SAT. Further information can be obtained by accessing the Collegeboard.com and going to My College QuickStart. They will need their access codes which are printed on the test results. Here they can see an Online Score Report, My SAT Study Plan and much more information on the college search process. If parents would like more information please call your child’s guidance counselor. Students are assigned to a counselor by the first initial of their surname
as follows: Marie Hennessy, Adjustment Counselor Kathryn Guilmette, Administrative Assistant
