School Counseling Department

Summer Greetings From the Cathedral High School Counseling Department

The Guidance Counselors will return to Cathedral on Tuesday, August 17.

Mrs. Guilmette, our administrative assistance, will be in the office Thursdays during the summer to address any questions you may have regarding schedules or if you are in need of a transcript. She will be happy to get infomation to the Counselors for their return in August.

If she is not available you will be advised by the receptionist to leave a message and she will get in touch with you on the following Thursday.

We hope that rising seniors will use the summer to explore college options and return in September ready to begin the college application process. For students wishing to take the ACT or SAT in the fall, please consult the individual websites at www.actstudent.org and www.collegeboard.com for deadlines for registration.

We look forward to a successful 2010-2011 school year and look forward to seeing you at many of the events hosted by the counseling department.

Welcome to the Cathedral High School
Counseling Department

The Counseling Department seeks to help students improve their self-understanding in light of their abilities, strengths, and weaknesses, and by integrating our own resources with those of parents, teachers, administrators, and community services.

Counselors meet with students one-on-one and in small groups throughout the school year, and facilitate special meetings between teachers and parents to discuss a student's progress. Additionally, the counselors are an important resource for students and their parents as they make choices about the next steps after graduation from Cathedral.

Students and parents who are beginning the process of looking for a college should contact their counselor to arrange for a meeting to discuss this process.

To contact one of the counselors, you can email them by clicking on their names below, or call (413) 782-5285 and ask for your student's counselor by name.

Students are assigned to a counselor by the first initial of their surname as follows:
Cheryl DelViscio, Director - A, B, C, D, E, Z
Patricia Gregory, Counselor - G, J, K, L, M, N, O, V, W, X
Andrea Allen, Counselor - F, H, I, P, Q, R, S,U, Y, T

Marie Hennessy, Adjustment Counselor
Adjustment counselor responsibilities include assessment, counseling, intervention, facilitation and casework services with individual students and groups to help them with personal, social or emotional issues related to their educational and social progress.

Kathryn Guilmette, Administrative Assistant
