  Science Curriculum   microscope
 
  1. CONTENT
    Students will be presented with a basic core content in order that the student will be able to:
    1. attain a basic level of literacy in both core language and concepts
    2. follow the chronological development of science concepts including how science influenced society and how society influenced science.
    3. understanding basic scientific technology, its role in science, and its use as a learning tool.

  2. THINKING SKILLS
    Students will be presented with hypothetical situations intended to develop the individual student’s critical, independent thinking skills necessary for the student to:
    1. solve problems and make decisions based on scientific principles.
    2. communicate ideas using verbal and written techniques, as well as working as a team member in a collaborative atmosphere.
    3. analyze and interpret data.

  3. APPLICATION IN THE REAL WORLD
    Students will be presented with relationships of scientific knowledge and its application to their lives in order that the student will be able to:
    1. use the scientific method which includes following instructions or directions to obtain consistent results.
    2. make informed decisions on the human condition and environmental problems.
    3. understand how scientific technology may be used in real world applications.

  4. VALUE OF DIVERSITY
    Students will be presented with the opportunity to explore global topics in order that the student will be able to:
    1. explain why natural and cultural differences may influence the acceptance of science concepts.
    2. understand the need for sharing valued world resources and scientific knowledge to help solve current and future world problems.
    3. increase their knowledge of positive and negative aspects of technological advancements when confronting worldwide cultural differences.
